INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS

Authors of works in progress

Objective

The work-in-progress sessions correspond to projects in their early stages, where the theoretical framework, empirical design, or analysis are still being defined. The purpose is to obtain substantive guidance to refine the approach and publication potential of the work. The session chair will offer initial comments and also open the floor to the audience.

Presentation time: 8 minutes.
Discussion: 5 minutes.

Recommended structure

  1. Research question: motivation and relevance.
  2. Current status of the project,
    • Preliminary theoretical rationale.
    • Methodological design planned or underway.
    • Type of data (existing or planned).
    • Preliminary hypotheses or lines of analysis (if any).
  3. Three mandatory questions for the audience on which the authors wish to receive feedback (theory, variables, econometric identification strategy, or any other element that is still open or in the decision phase).

Expectations

  • Transparency about what has been defined and what remains open.
  • Request specific feedback on specific questions from authors.
  • Take advantage of the session to compare ideas and make decisions about the future evolution of the work

Role of the chair

In addition to actively participating in the discussion, the chair of the session will offer comprehensive and constructive feedback, focusing on aspects that could be reinforced or clarified, on ideas or approaches that could enrich the future development of the study and, finally, on useful recommendations for its possible publication.
